the month in minutes – january 2012

Hello, hello!

A little reminder, if you haven’t already linked up your blog goals, we’re keeping the party open until Thursday night for anyone getting a late start…we’d love to hear yours.  And you can find mine here.

Now, I’m going to start a little something new here today.

Can you believe this little blog had more page views in February than in its 3 previous months combined?  Serious!  That’s incredible to me.

So, I shout out a Welcome! to everyone who is relatively new around here.  Thank you so much for coming by, please make yourself at home…and let me know you’re here.  🙂

And, to everyone who has been around from the beginning…don’t think I don’t know who you are…even if you’ve never left a comment.  I sure do appreciate you all sticking around…and would love to hear what you have to say about every single post things every now and then.  🙂

In light of all of our fun new traffic I thought it makes sense to do a little month in review, if you will.  But,…I’m going to start with January…total rule breaker here.  Seems like a nice, clean, appropriate place to start, don’t you think?  And, I’ll be sure to mix in a few new things too…just to keep it fresh for ya.

So, I guess I should start by saying HAPPY New Year!  I’m sporting my party outfit and blowing my noise maker right now.  🙂  But, the girls rang in the new year looking a little more like this.

the space between started the year with a few fun announcements about keeping in touch. We definitely encourage cyber stalking around here, so check out the options and, if you’re so inclined, let’s stay connected. Please!  🙂

Then we went on a little kindness journey we called the 12 Days of Kindness.  I never did post any pics of the care package I sent to the soldier.
Now I’m craving a rice krispies treat or three.  Yum!

The advice I had been given was to send condiments, snacks and microwavable meals…which I totally forgot about.  But I could easily consider a package of Nutter Butters a meal.  🙂

And, I have no idea how the chips fared…but I couldn’t resist sending a bag of Cape Cod Kettle chips.  Hopefully enough good things made it in edible condition.  I wouldn’t know because I never did hear from him. Boo. 😦 But, my sister-in-law sent a package shortly after and she got a thank you email a week later.  Fun!

And … I’ve been working on a little something to take this kindness project to the next level.  I’m having so much fun with it I can hardly stand it.  Stay tuned on March 20th when I’ll be posting all about it along with Kelly, Kari, Linda and Andrea.  🙂

But back to January, I was in Maine when I got an email from Karianne from Thistlewood Farm with the awesome Imagine the Impossibilities idea.  I tell you, that girl is genius.

Throughout the month we featured other “impossible” projects and ramped up for the first ever link party on this here blog where 361 amazing projects were linked up.  And I had a ton of fun hanging a gallery wall from one little screw.

Want to see a picture of the house I grew up in?  My dad built her.

the space between was also found over at Between U & Me for our first and second ever guest posts.  A faux Anthropologie letter B was made for free and a pallet was turned into wall art…another free upcycle.

Once the gallery wall went up, the pallet word art needed a new wall to live on, so she finds herself in the kitchen these days.
And, because I may have had a little too much fun playing with camera angles…
I was thrilled to be able to host our first ever giveaway sponsored by One Project Closer. And those super handy couples at OPC even added us to their blogging community.

Does anyone want to sponsor another giveaway here?  I sure would love to host more freebies for y’all.

Since we live on an island I find myself surrounded by driftwood (and sea glass).  I showed you a few of my favorite driftwood projects in January.

And I’ve been eyeing this mirror for a couple of years … it hangs at a hotel here and I would love to try to make something like it this year.

Anyone else notice that I said “first ever” about 56 times in this post.  🙂

What a fun month of firsts ever and great kick off to 2012.  I even came up with a word of the year and am having fun putting that word into action!

Tomorrow I’ll be back with a little February rundown and I’ll also be adding these posts to the sidebar.  You know, for when you’re thinking…I need to check out that pallet wood word wall art again…I think it was made in January…but man I wish I didn’t have to scroll through each post.

Well, if you haven’t thought that yet, I sure hope you do someday.  🙂

Just for fun…

….I posted a pic of my view during pilates here.  Someone recently took a picture during one of our classes.
Here’s to a strong, peaceful and productive day!
